About Me

My name is Diane Murdock. I am originally from Los Angeles, CA.  I have a deep love for swimming. I have been swimming pretty much all of my life. I started when I was around 5 yrs old swimming at YMCA, learned with them and started my first meets with them. Then I moved to Colombia and continued with classes and competitions, but while I was living there I was diagnosed with Scoliosis in which the Dr. told me that I needed to swim to improve my spine. I had no problem telling the Dr. "sure" I loved swimming and that's what I did. After a couple years of swimming my spine did get better. I moved back to Los Angeles and went back to swimming, since California is nice and warm year round, it gave me the opportunity to swim all the time. I joined the swim team during high school and did plenty of swim competitions among the LA Unified School District. My specific style I competed in was the IM which includes all 4 strokes (Butter, Back, Breast, Free), I also did the Medley Relays and individual events. I swam all 4 years of high school and we were able to get to state championships. It was such an amazing time for me, swimming and hanging out with friends. Then I went to BYUI where I continued taking swim classes for fun and to stay fit. I was also certified as WSI. Now I'm a mother of 2 lovely boys that take all of my time, but I will always remember my years in swimming. I want to pass on my knowledge and help others learn their strokes to enjoy or to continue on to a swim team.
